The Township of Clinton, New Jersey is located in north-central Hunterdon County New Jersey. Clinton Township is bordered by the Townships of Raritan, Readington, Tewksbury, Lebanon and Franklin, and also the Borough of High Bridge. It is not uncommon for the Town of Clinton (only 1.4 square miles) and Clinton Township (33 square miles) to be confused. Although they are considered two distinct communities. Within the Township's boundaries lies the Town of Clinton. The character of the Township remains heavily rural despite considerable housing construction in recent years. The Hunterdon Museum of Art offers exhibitions of contemporary art, studio, classes and education programs for children, adults, schools, summer art camps and other groups, along with a unique museum shop. Museum Hours: open all year Tuesday-Sunday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Admission requested from non-members.
Clinton's landmark Red Mill has been at the very heart of the community since 1810. Since those early days, the mill and the adjoining Mulligan Quarry have produced building materials, textiles for clothing, baskets, and food for both farm animals and families. Since 1963, the museum has used its National Historic Site to tell the story of our region's rural heritage. With over 40,000 objects, special events and changing exhibits, there is always something for our visitors to enjoy. Museum Hours: April 1 to mid-October, Tuesday-Sunday 10 am to 4 pm. Admission for non-members upon request.
