Chester-Twp-Brick-Hotel

Brick Hotel or as it is known today, the Publick House, was owned by Zephaniah Drake and was used in his time as an inn. The Publick  House was built in 1810 as a place of "fancy" public accommodations, although there were still many inns and taverns that took in drovers and itinerants. When Drake first bought the building, he wanted to expand it and to start his school across the street while waiting for the building to be completed.  The Publick House is located on 111 Main St Chester, NJ 07930.
