Branchburg is located in western Somerset County. The township of Branchburg, NJ is bordered by Hunterdon County, NJ to the west, Bedminster Township, NJ to the north, Bridgewater, NJ to the east and Hillsborough, NJ to the southeast. Branchburg covers a total area of 20.2 square miles, being eleven miles long and approximately 2 miles across at its widest point. The main water courses are the Lamington River on the north, the North Branch of the Raritan River on the east and the South Branch of the Raritan River on the east and south. The town has remained semi rural a population of approximately 15,000 residents. Major highways traversing the township include State Highways 22, 202 and 206 and a number of County Routes with Interstates 78 and 287 within a few minutes drive.

The Andrew Ten Eyck House This two-story house is an important survivor of the township's early domestic architecture. The original brick portion of the house was constructed in the early 19th century while the frame rear portion was added in the early 20th century. There are still some early interior fabrics remaining. The second floor contains a local research library. The site is owned and maintained by the Branchburg Historic Society. Open by appointment.
